My Web site development work is all hand-coded — no WYSIWYG tools such as Dreamweaver are used. This allows the creation of custom Web site solutions not available to those using common development software. It also results in more efficient code that is easier to maintain. The following is a detailed list of my Web site development skills and qualifications:

  • Advanced implementation of HTML, JavaScript, and Document Object Model (DOM) that is compatible with the latest versions of all major browsers on various platforms
  • Advanced implementation of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to create Web sites that separate form and function to allow easy updating of content
  • Complete compliance with the XHTML 1.0 Transitional and Strict guidelines as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) that ensures forward and backward compatibility
  • Creating HTML emails that are compatible with all major clients such as Outlook, Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail
  • Using PHP to create easy-to-use content management systems for clients that utilize XML for data storage and retrieval
  • Strong knowledge of AJAX (asynchronous JavaScript and XML) technology in accessing server data and dynamically updating Web pages using manipulation of the Document Object Model
  • Encoding and embedding of Flash video on Web pages
  • Creating Web sites that are search-engine optimized (SEO) to improve the quality and volume of traffic as well as higher search engine rankings
  • Using techniques as set forth by the W3C to allow Web site accessibility for those with disabilities and ensure compliance with any applicable government requirements

Also, when working with many of my clients, I not only act as the developer, but also participate in the overall Web site strategy, project management, and design consulting. This ensures a smoother overall process that minimizes the chance of unexpected roadblocks as the project concludes.
